History of RFUMC

The Rib Falls United Methodist Church had its beginning when a few families came to the wooded wilderness area of Marathon County from Germany in 1856. At that time, services were generally held in the homes of the members or in the "Washington Heights"  school building in the township of Rib Falls.

The early pastors who served the congregation were called "circuit riders" who would travel by foot or on horseback to the various communities in the area.

In 1864, the first church, a log building, was built on the present church site.  The present church building, replacing the log structure. was erected in 1892. Additions to the church were made in 1945 and 2009.

Today, in 2024, RFUMC is still thriving, filled with new and old members each Sunday. Our church community cherishes this building, along with the many memories made in it through the love of God. As we continue on our faith journey, we hope to continue to fill our pews each and every week all for the glory of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
